Tunnels to Towers Foundation
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation honors the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller, who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. The foundation also honors military members and first responders who continue to make the ultimate sacrifice of life and limb for our country.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation has developed three programs to help a variety of first responders, veterans, and their families with housing, mortgages, and shelter. Here is more detail on the programs that the Tunnel to Towers Foundation has established:
- Smart Home Program
The Smart Home Program builds mortgage-free smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans. Each home is designed to address the specific needs of the individual it’s built for. Smart homes include high-tech features such as automated doors and lights, wider doorways, wheelchair-accommodating showers, and lowerable stovetops. These homes help paralyzed and injured veterans reclaim their independence.
- Fallen First Responder Home Program
We understand that families of first responders can and do experience sudden losses when tragedy strikes. The Fallen First Responder Home Program aims to pay off mortgages of fallen law enforcement officers and firefighters who left behind young children. The goal is to help create a sense of stability and security for these families facing such a sudden loss.
- Gold Star Family Home Program
Finally, the Gold Star Family Home Program honors the legacy of those who made the supreme sacrifice while serving the United States of America. This program provides mortgage-free homes to surviving spouses with young children.
