Benny’s Bodega

Benny’s Bodega is a charitable organization with a mission to support the A.L.I.C.E. (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population, particularly seniors and veterans. The Bodega offers a unique shopping experience where individuals can select essential household items free of charge, providing a dignified approach to assistance. Unlike traditional charity programs, Benny’s Bodega operates entirely on donations from supporters, without government funding.

This community-driven initiative seeks to address the gap in support for those who are employed but still struggle to make ends meet. While government programs offer critical aid, Benny’s Bodega aims to provide an alternative by fostering community involvement and encouraging a “hand-up” approach. Their model, resembling a store, allows individuals to shop for their needs, reducing any stigma attached to receiving assistance.

Benny’s Bodega not only meets basic needs but also works to strengthen community ties. The organization encourages people to contribute, teaching empathy and support while building a stronger local network. As Benny’s Bodega continues to grow, it hopes to expand its presence, bringing this concept to more counties and communities.

The Bodega operates five days a week with flexible hours to accommodate different schedules, relying on dedicated community members and volunteers to keep the initiative running smoothly.
